Lobes of the Brain
Frontal Lobe -- behind the forehead -- responsible for    -- thinking    -- planning    -- memory    -- judgment
Parietal Lobe -- extends from the middle to the back of the skull -- processes information about touch
Occipital Lobe -- back of skull -- processes visual information

Brain Lobes
In this model we can see the major divisions that make the different lobes of the brain. In orange we can see the frontal lobe, its primary role is higher order thinking. This is also known as decision making and problem solving. For example, is it okay to cross the road (assessing risk and safety) , and waiting for the light to turn green before driving. This region also plays a role in emotional regulation and personality.
In blue we have the parietal lobe, and this lobe takes its name from the bone plate that sits above it. The parietal lobe is primarily responsible for interpreting sensory information, so information from our body (arms, legs, any part of the body). Touch, temperature, pain sensations are relayed to this part of the brain for it to interpret.
In green, the back of the brain, is the occipital lobe. Its primary role is to interpret visual information from our eyes.
In the yellow area is the temporal lobe, it has a number of roles. It has a role in memory formation as well as housing the region of cortex known as the auditory cortex. Information from our ears gets interpreted in this area of the brain. The temporal lobe also has a role in emotion and language.
Understanding Your Brain: A Guide to Brain Lobes and Their Functions
What are Brain Lobes?
The brain is divided into four main lobes: the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, occipital lobe, and temporal lobe. Each lobe has a specific set of functions and responsibilities that contribute to our overall cognitive abilities.
