1980s era paperback of Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury. Over a million copies in print! And by “the world’s greatest [then] living science fiction writer”? Count me in! Full disclosure: I own several copies of this book, so my sarcasm is 100% in jest.

Someday maybe I will do some research and figure out when exactly Bradbury started using this author photo on his work. I believe this one predates what I call the “giant Casio watch and black cat” author photo, which is an epic upgrade.

Volt halálközeli élményem, és azóta jobban tudok értékelni egy csendes, napfényes napot, vagy akár az esőt. Voltam nagyon csóró, azóta egy pohár tejet, egy darabka vajat, egy sülő húst, egy meleg szobát is sokkal jobban tudok élvezni. És szeretek másokon segíteni, mert tudom, mit éreznek az emberek azon az oldalon, ahol a este a lefekvésnél még nem tudhatják, lesz-e reggeli vagy ebéd. Utólag jöttem rá, hogy mindez ajándék volt. Nem akkor mikor benne voltam, hanem az, amit tanított, és ahogy utána megváltozott az életem, a gondolkozásom. Az volt a tandíj, amit fizetnem kellett egy más minőségű életért, egy valóságközelibb értékrendért.
