When did this character realize their identity? How did they initially feel about that realization?

When Brackenfreckle was a wee kitten of 4 moons old her mother introduced her to a friend of hers who had some 7 moon old cats who were learning how to hunt and patrol. One of the cats was a really pretty molly who was very nice to her and gave her mouse and asked for her name and what she liked doing and was overall really nice.

Rift noticed that his usually grumpy and rude sister was now nervous and blushing and giving one-word shy answers. The second the molly walked away he gave the largest shit-eating grin on the planet and after Bracken stared in confusion at him for about 10 seconds she slowly got a look of horror on her expression. Oh god. Oh no.

"What if I told her though"

She still doesn't believe in StarClan for straightforward reasons (only tangible things in life are real; StarClan is a nebulous "spirit of ancestors", but certainly not HER ancestors), and if she doesn't believe in StarClan...well, Windfur believes it's not wise to make someone uphold the vows and secrets of ancestors they don't believe in.

If anything, Brackenfreckle might go through the equivalent of a mental crash after finally accepting that dreams might Mean Something Actually (Endless fucking around with messages in dreams by accident will cause that), and if she ever sees Redstar ACTUALLY die and come back from the dead magically she'll have to really question whether reality is actually as it appears, but that doesn't necessarily mean she'll start believing in StarClan and want to go to the Half-Moon Dome. Her mom's not up there, yannow? In her mind, anyway.
