So much has been said about the changes to Arya and Jaqen storyline on Game of Thrones. Their story was altered almost entirely. GRRM hated it, the book readers hated it, the show only audience hated it. Even the actors themselves weren't happy about it though they delivered excellent performances regardless of the rewrites.
I once read that before season 5 was made they had had a different idea regarding Arya's assassin training. They had already abandoned GRRM's books at this point and the decision to give the whole story a different outcome had already been made.
But they still weren't sure how exactly Arya's Braavos chapters would be adapted. Elio Garcia even said they might have dropped Braavos altogether and let Arya roam Westeros with Jaqen and learn the craft on the way.
I know that Braavos is very important and much more interesting in the books. Still, I think Elio's idea was actually quite good and would have worked a lot better than what we eventually got. I mean they ruined Braavos anyway. They changed the faceless men's philosophy, they changed the Waif and Jaqen, they cut the Kindly Man and Umma and Brusco and the true meaning of Izembaro's play and so on and so forth.
Elio's scenario would have let keep Jaqen's true personality and wit and the original dynamic of his relationship with Arya which was so entertaining. What's done is done but I still kind of mourn that idea. It could have been so much fun.
