What I'm currently working on.
I'm currently working on a Madness Combat (Webseries & Videogame) x Boy Kills World (2024 Film) crossover. The events of the crossover take place after the events of the movie and is considered major spoilers for the plot of Boy Kills World.
@boykillsworld : sit. for your muse to encourage mine to sit and rest.
the exhaustion creeps in sometimes when ravi's not looking.
behind them, in a building of harsh concrete and sharp angles, is a massacre. that's a simple truth of what they do, of the city and how it works and how it's all been built up for years. of the only way that you stop the machine, by grinding down the bodies of the people who built it until the gristle and gore brings it to a halt. a dismantling is not a one time event. it's hard work. it's fighting against the ocean every day of your life. it's a long, long fight, and most of all, it hurts. he staggers. pushes himself back upright against the wall, action and reaction.
it's not even injury. it's just that it's been a long day. it sounds pathetic when he thinks of it like that, but that doesn't change the truth.
maybe the exhaustion is why he startles when there's a hand on his shoulder. he glances back.
it's funny. what matters of them has never been names or details of their lives. what matters is the shared vision of what the world might look like, and that doesn't require knowing. it barely requires them to speak, which is good when ravi himself is quiet and the boy doesn't speak at all. for once, something in him loosens. gently, almost carefully, he's pulled down to sit on the curb. when everything stops the body remembers to ache, to feel pain, to remind you of all of its failings.
this is the price. he stretches out one leg and lets the knife tumble from his hand, clattering to the ground. blood drips off of the blade, slow and steady.
ravi breathes out. "thanks," he says. the signing of the word is clumsy. he's fairly sure he managed to mess up at least half of it. shakes his head and breathes out a laugh. "sometimes it catches up with you, doesn't it?"
he pauses. his hands rise up again, signing a little more confidently this time even as he says it aloud. "you okay?"
