Market Maven set the early pace with hype horse Prevalence sitting nicely off that one after big favorite Risk Taking broke awkwardly. As the hit the top of the stretch, Dynamic One swooped in and started to out-battle second choice Crowded Trade, but then Bourbonic just came flying from the back to just get up in time. Not often you get an all-Pletcher exacta that pays over $800, but there you go.
Bourbonic is a son of Bernardini and Dancing Afleet, who won the G2 Delaware Oaks on her best day. She’s also the dam of stakes winner & G2-placed runner Avant Garde. Her dam, Mrs. Vanderbilt was a decent allowance horse who comes from a pretty solid little family with a lot of minor stakes winners scattered around.
