What’s been living rent free in my head 24/7 lately:
I like that the hunger games ballad of this and that is the embodiment of zizeks critique of the titanic, i.e.: titanic is a great love story only because leo dies, becuse if he lived, sure they could bond of the shared trauma, but for the rich girl the novelty of being entertained by a poor boy would wear off fast and she would dump him. Love that collins fleshed out a newpoor boy getting it on with and oldpoor girl and love how whiplash fast, like 30 minutes into starting a new life with her he's like... this aint for me... it was fun having a picnic with her but i dont wanna be catching fish in the muck the rest of my days LMAO

-------------------------------------------------
After the Hunger Games, Lucy Gray Baird vanishes without a trace. Months later, Panem meets Mrs. Coriolanus Snow.
The Capitol celebrates the romance of the charming young academic and the victorious district songbird he rescued from obscurity. But the truth is far uglier. While Coriolanus begins climbing toward the future he was always meant for, Lucy is kept under Dr. Gaul’s watchful eye deep within the Capitol laboratories, where every song, every fear, and every act of defiance becomes part of an experiment.
Forced into the role of Capitol darling while struggling to preserve the girl she once was, Lucy learns quickly that cages do not always look like bars—and that Coriolanus Snow may be far more dangerous than the arena ever was.

Sneak Peek
Pure as the Driven Snow
Here's a snippet of my Hunger Games fanfic! This follows the events of Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, except after the shooting in the woods, Coriolanus takes an injured Lucy Gray with him to the Capitol.
----------
The ground rattled beneath Lucy Gray. A horrible, groaning sound, like a mountain beast awakening from slumber to shake the gravel and boulders from its back, filled the air. It was an unnatural melody Lucy Gray was unfortunate enough to recognize.
Her body ached. Slowly, she pried her eyes open. The last time she had been trapped in this beast’s maw, she was held within a cattle car. Now she lay on a bench. Her head was propped on something, but before she could move to see, a hand settled, warm and heavy, on her shoulder. “Oh, Lucy Gray.”
Another sound she recognized. The last thing she remembered was that voice screaming her name in fury as gunfire and smoke filled the forest; a thunderous, war cry of a tune that tried to drown out nature’s song. Lucy tried to sit up, but pain exploded across her side. A hiss escaped her teeth.
What was goin’ on? Coriolanus had tried to kill her. She knew about the murders. He was wantin to go to officer’s school. Why was she here with him now? “Coryo….” Lucy Gray slurred, her voice strained. Move. Move, Lucy Gray Baird, you gotta…
Something pricked her neck. Cold flew through her veins, turnin her to a girl of ice—ice so cold, not even summer’s heat could melt her. The winter storm washed over her consciousness.
Last thing she felt was Coriolanus petting her hair.

Suzanne Collins did the best possible thing by making BOSAS in the third person and it’s for plot reasons.
SOTR and the original trilogy were in the first person pov and I feel that fits well. Katniss, who’s overguarded yet lets people in any way. We don’t know everything sure but we know her love for the people she cares about because she thinks she’s really great at letting us know nothing but she’s not. And Mister Haymitch “over-sharer” Abernathy over here I don’t need to explain. But BOSAS? We get glimpses into Snow’s mind but mfer is CONSTANTLY calculating and planning to the point his own brain most of the time won’t even register his own feelings. Not the main point.
If BOSAS was in the first person, it would’ve likely been Lucy Gray’s and I think that would’ve thrown her whole thing out. She’s supposed to be a mystery, to be hidden, and she is. We know almost nothing about her because Snow knows almost nothing about her because it’s through two filters that we get any information on her. I think it’s why so many people are captivated by the idea of a faceless Lucy Gray. It feels right. She’s the mystery girl.
When I’m at the projecting my insecurities contest but my competition is Coriolanus Snow 😞😞
The whole situation with the hunger games is so unsustainable that I cannot imagine its creators thought it would last very long. Not that they thought it would collapse immediately, or maybe even in their lifetimes, but they must have known that the only surefire thing people do is forget. They must have known that when everyone forgot the war only the barbary of the games would remain, and there is no better catalyst for revolution.
