Gun Totem – The unusual obelisk in Providence

Built from reclaimed guns from the Guns For Goods gun buy back program, the Gun Totem is a 3,65 meter obelisk made of concrete and 1,000 guns. Perhaps not coincidentally, the totem is located across the courthouse in Providence, Rhode Island.

"When Boris Bally was a boy I bought a ring from him - perhaps it was the first sale of a piece of his artwork. I bought it because I liked it and his parents were my friends. So, what does that event have to do with ending violence? Maybe that sale encouraged Boris to pursue his artistic passion and his work at this exhibit encourages you to do something that will help put an end to a violent act in another person's life. Or maybe reading this will remind you that even though we don't know what an impact we have on another's life, we do know that any act of encouragement will have a positive influence on someone - somewhere - sometime. Oh yes - and that we are all connected to each other."
