I'm super late to the most of the Borderlands train but you tell me if my writer's thinking still working well š¤
Jack's mother got a "siren gene" from her father and after Jack's dad died she left the family leaving Jack to her own mother/Jack's grandmother to keep him safe.
Imma say dad's death was connected to siren powers kinda like Angel's mom, who was killed by her, by accident. So being a danger to her own son, Jack's mom left forever (or died).
That also partly explains why Jack's gran was so abusive ā her husband inflicted this "curse" on their daughter and ruined their lives. So Jack was just a reminder of menā¢ļø who carry the Siren DNA that hurts the non-men but not themselves.
Meaning Angel's whole plot is even more Jack's fault: not only disconnected parenting but also unfortunate biological material, yay! /s
And trans Rhys (and Timothy) headcanons fit waaay too well bc Rhys literally got the tattoos (and Timothy had Jack's DNA which would make him (arguably) an Y-chromosome-less Jack-Siren HELL YEAH š„) It is partly supported by the Gearbox when Troy Calypso who is a cis male with a friction of siren powers.
If we hold to the idea that Y chromosomes and/or testosterone suppress the Siren powers, then depending on the mix of those each trans/intersex person has, they wouldn't have any insane powers like Lilith or Tyreen, be last in the list for the "inheritance", not knowing how to control them etc.
Like, if we treat Siren DNA as such, the more X chromosomes and oestrogen = more power, it would choose to transfer into the femme bodies first.
TDLR: Jack had a Siren DNA from his mother, passed it to Angel. Rhys is trans/intersex bc he has a Siren tattoo but no powers.

Okay so you know how in ntftbl when your in rhys's office in the beginning and he asks u to show off the gun/device anu made you have multiple choices on what to demonstrate it on? If u shoot Sasha's pic and mini rhys you get him to like yell AND HE SAYS "maybe I can ask fiona!...maybe if I can find fiona.."-end quote. I wonder since that happened in the trailer too if we're actually gonna be able to see fiona and Sasha in the next game! ALSO fiona was in one of the endings!! Soooo maybe!!
Okay so basically what if Jack really was doing the right thing (hear me out, hear me out)
Like, what if he found out more info from the Elpis Vault than he let on and he knew about The Ruin that the Guardians were trying to prevent, and he was legit just doing what they asked of him in order to help stop it. We know they were trying to destroy Pandora because that would somehow stop The Ruin from happening, so what if Jack was told that and got instructions on how to stop it (by waking the Warrior and destroying Pandora) and was trying to save us all by doing what the Eridians suggested/pointed him towards. That's why he was constantly telling us that we don't understand and that he's trying to save us all. I think he got a ton of other super useful info from that Vault (like info about Siren lore and how to charge Vault keys to open the Vault earlier than normal and how to make technology that can mess with siren abilities) so what if all of that information was given to him by the Eridians on purpose as a "How To Save The World" package. They left him breadcrumbs towards the Warrior, knowing he'd follow them and set the cogs in motion, and ultimately fulfil their wishes. And what if he was set up to fill this role, but didn't know he was destined to die whilst doing it. Like, the Eridians gave him visions of the Vault and how to open it, but didn't tell him he was gonna die. They tricked him into doing it for them and that's why he was so confident and didn't expect to die at the end. If that was the case, he was thrown under the bus like we were and we killed him because of a big misunderstanding that the Eridians knowingly caused as part of their big plan. He could have been on the same side as us, only we didn't know it because the Eridians were playing both sides like they did with us and the Twins through bl3
Oh my god guys I just realised that the people who go into/around the vaults literally turn into the vault monsters from that specific vault!!!! efjigrnejkgre
Zarpedon and the Lost Legion were turning into the Sentinal. Zarpadon is the same size as him, she has the staff that he carries/fights with, does all of his combat moves, and has his glowing eyes and a little bit of his echoey/whispery voice effect when she speaks. The Lost Legion Eternals are also gaining his appearance and powers with their skin turning to rock, their eyes glowing, and his elemental powers manifesting as they ascend.Ā
Elenor has grown tentacles that match Gythianās tenticles, whilst everyone around the vault have started bleeding black ink (like that of a squid or octopus) from their eyes and have mysterious afflictions (ācursesā)
Nyriad straight up turned into the Serpent monster that Typhon and his wife killed in the first vault. Her body was nowhere to be found even though she had sealed herself in their alone. She went into the vault and the serpent came out. Safe to assume theyāre one in the same.
We already know that the vaults are canonically radioactive (thanks to sources like Tannis, the Bounty DLC, and I think the Tentacles DLC) and have an effect on people who are around them for too long (RIP to the Vault hunters cause weāve been in a LOT of vaults over the years) so it makes sense!!Ā
It would also explain more about why Jackās scar is bright blue (radiation glows blue irl) and you could also argue that itās partially what lead to him going insane - because he had radiation poisoning that was starting the transformation into the vault monster, but he wasnāt in the vault long enough for it to transform him any further than that. Although I have to point out that Jack was already very unwell and was doing awful things long before any of his appearances in borderlands, so Iād say that radiation poisoning from the vault might have been one of the triggers, but it certainly wasnāt the cause of his madness
The Eridian Prophesy Destroyed by Power Hunger, Power Fear
Some time ago I was pretty deep in TPS story-line and found something that could lead to very interesting theory. I want to describe it.
I canāt say itās a proper āresearchā because I have TPS uninstalled a while ago thus have no pictures. But I remember pretty everything about this game so Iāll try to expose as much as I can right now; also Tumblr in my country is pretty laggy and donāt allowing me to post pictures anyway so Iām sorry for the text wall.
Many thanks to @undergoingcalibrations for giving me a bit of a thoughts lately about it!
I donāt include anything related to Borderlands 3 and The Commander Lilith DLC. I prefer pretending both this game and dlc arenāt exist.
Eleseer was an Eridian stronghold of some kind of knowledge allowing to see the future to whoever using it. After the Crackening, people saw eridian creatures and suffered from them (Annie Swan and Emily, Janey Springs, DAHL Lost Legion).
Lost Legion were the first who discovered The Knowledge and got corrupted. They became The Guardiand Of The Vault much like other eridian guardians (Ophas, Guardians, Pondors, Krestosā, Putties and many more) but didnāt lose their minds, at least not all of them.
It is unknown what was Zarpedon actually saw after everything Jackās looked upon but her own words: You must turn back. The power within the Vault will trigger a chain of events that ā is more than enough to conclude that she known the upcoming events of both Borderlands 2 and Tales From the Borderlands. The question is, What Did She Saw In Details.
Now we know that the Knowledge is about future vision. It also could be very fragmentary. However, it could also give to itās user the Curse (Zarpedon), or skills to create guns (Jack creats E-Tek), or knowledge of eridium purpose and skills to build the machine that would suck the powers from a living siren and how to combine them to charge up the Vault key (Jack).
I guess, The Knowledge also differs from ones using it but Iām not sure. As all eredian stuff, thereās a lot of mystery around it.
That being said, Iām going to tell you this: whatever this knowledge is, it has everything to make Jack the some kind of trigger that begins a chain of events to bring the Eridians back.
But why Eridians? Games wonāt expose the purpose such straightforwardly, actually, but you should remember the very end of Borderlands 2. The moment where Lilith discovers that the Vault Key was an actual map. For what other purpose could it be?
To sum up:
1. The Knowledge contains information of making guns and sirens abilities.
2. The Knowledge also shows how to find and open the Vault of the Warrior and what to do with the Vault creature.
3. As obvious as it is, The Knowledge should have have the moment where vault map is showing up and the events right after it.
However, The Knowledge also implying that both Zarpedon and Jack had to watch it. Theyāve seen the same things except Jack got corrupted by Lilith and not by The Knowledge itself. Zarpedon saw that very moment and all coming after it ( The power within the Vault ). That explains why she was so willing to destroy the Vault with everything in it, to kill Jack but not his vaulthunters or everyone else. She was sorry for her seemingly murderous intentions and told everyone to flee away as soon as possible.Ā
And what do it all means?
I have no other answer than it was planned by eridians all along, all this time. So The Knowledge is basically The Prophecy lead to bring the Eridiand back or something else related to them.
I personally believe in the first one as Iām interpreting the Watcher words: The war is coming. And you will need all the Vault Hunters you can get. ā as a bad omen that could be resolved only with the help of people and creatures, including, for example, corporate bastards, who know something about Vaults, and could defeat both the guardians and vault creatures.

So... Yeah. I donāt know what to do with this knowledge, I'm literally DEAD INSIDE. God help me WHY WHY THEY ARE SO SIMILAR...................... Jeffrey I love u pls be alive
dont get me wrong, I adore this game, being a huge borderlands fan that has spent countless hours researching and lore hunting, i want nothing more than to say this game is flawless. but its biggest downfall has to be troy and tyreen.
these two were built up like no tomorrow, they seemed like something much bigger than they were, and it seemed like it just... fell apart.
its because unlike every villian beforehand, they have no ulterior motive.
steele was working for atlas, who wanted to open a vault to put their name back on the corporate map.
handsome jack wanted to kill off the bandits and make pandora a peaceful planet.
hector was after creating the paradise he was promised by dahl.
troy and tyreen... wanted to get back at typhon? for keeping them safe? it makes zero sense. like sure you can become gods, but what for? so you can kill everything? i refuse to believe tyreen was that apathetic towards others.
like sure if i was trapped on an alien planet with no living humans, i wouldnt stab my dad in the back and leave because i was mad at him.
the twins also had this great sibling rivalry dynamic build up. i would have loved if troy became fucking nutso and was hellbent on outshining tyreen after years of being second-best. or if troy realized tyreen was going off the deep end and joined the raiders in an attempt to stop her. (i may be upset that heās dead). they had these awesome dynamics going, especially in the latter half of the game, and it never led up to anything. honestly a lot of this writing really ended up falling flat this time around. while anthony burch, bitch that he is, he really made a lot of the writing at least tolerable and had a story that made sense.
this time around a lot of things just didnt feel right, like aureliaās death, mayas death, tannis being a siren, etc etc. and i mean, typhon? if he was such an important figure, where the hell was he in the past? the first time the vault was opened? speaking of vaults, they used to seem like this amazing, incredible alien construct that nobody ever knew of, in borderlands 3 we open technically 4 in one game. what??? whatever made vaults special clearly isnt there anymore. the title of āvault hunterā used to mean something, now its just tossed around like nothing.
