#border collies

Spring is my favourite season. I love the lengthening days & seeing the countryside come back to life, as wildlife reemerges & the birds begin to sing... colour creeps across the landscape again, new wildflowers bloom each week & the crops begin to grow. In past years, spring was my favourite season for taking photos of the collies.

Today was a perfect spring day & I made myself get outside for a walk, didn't take my camera but I took a couple of pics on my phone. Top photo with the blossom is from today & beneath, some taken in previous years, also in spring, in the exact same spot.

I don't drive & so absolutely all of the local footpaths hold a lot of memories of being out & about with Flynn - & Barney too. I was simultaneously happy & sad to walk along a path I know so very, very well but have previously only ever been on with Flynn at my side... He felt close & very far away. The flowers were beautiful as always & I spotted deer & various birds & squirrels. On the way home, I passed someone walking two border collies. Said a quick "hello" to the owner, who continued on their way but both dogs came directly to me. I am slightly wary of interactions with unknown BCs, but these two were clearly extremely sweet. I gave each a pat & one in particular leaned into me & seemed like she'd be quite happy to stay awhile, although of course I sent her on her way after a few seconds, so she didn't get left behind! Anyway, that little meeting nearly had me in tears after but it was still a nice moment. Pic below is one of my favourites of Barney & Flynn together. Taken in early April 2019, they're trotting along the same stretch of path where I met the collies today.
