Hopefully I don’t sound like a weirdo, since I don’t think I messaged you before, but I saw your posts on retiring from writing, and I just wanted to say that I went through/am going through something very similar with my writing, as well. I’ve been working on this long multichap for years, but over the last few years, reviews have dwindled, and I felt really discouraged, especially since I spent so much time and care writing those chapters. I haven’t updated it since 2017, and haven’t written any fics, even oneshots, since. Review culture has changed so much since I first started writing fics, and it’s really discouraging, especially since we write this stuff for free! For awhile late last year/the early part of this year, I took a break from even reading fanfics altogether (partially because I was very busy with work and being in musical, partially because I guess my bitterness from writing spread to reading, too).

This got super long-winded, and I apologize. I guess what I was trying to say is that I understand your frustration (especially with lurkers who don’t review). Hopefully you find more inspiration someday, but if you don’t, I just wanted to say that you’re not alone in feeling discouraged with writing.

(Also, now that I’ve seen Endgame, I am being pulled back into Marvel [or at least, the characters rather than the later films’ canon plots], and I’m craving some Loki-centric fics, so I’ll definitely check yours out tomorrow! I looked at your masterlist, and I see you have plenty to choose from! [Guess it’s a good time for me to get back into reading fanfiction, haha])

You don’t have to apologize for anything and you certainly don’t sound like a weirdo! 

Review culture really has changed for the worst and I’m seeing more and more writers just… stop and I can’t blame them. My last fic only got 5 notes and they’re all ‘likes’. It’s already frustrating enough when you don’t get any feed back or anything from your readers but when you finally decide enough is enough people start flooding in and begging you not to stop. Like, where were you all the other times I complained about lack of feedback. Now that I’ve finally reached my breaking point they decide to say something? It makes me feel people only care about me when I produce content for their fandom. When I see all the other writers around me get flooded with feedback about their fics all the time I feel like I’ve done something wrong. 

After 5 years, Annie has finally been shown in the manga (not a flashback). She’s still in the crystal, but she’s alive!! Armin is also shown to be sitting in front of the crystal and leakers have postulated that apparently Armin went to Annie for advice. He’d been having dreams of Sasha’s death and in those dreams he was calling Sasha Annie…

7. What song is your aesthetic?

Drunken Whaler off the Dishonored soundtrack. It’s epic and creepy, and it’s based off of one of my favorite sea shanties. I also love the videogame very much.

13. talk about an au or story you came up with

Long ago, I had an idea for a Mob!AU, where Odin was an ailing “don” whose sons were about to inherit his criminal empire. Loki’s biological father was a rival gang member that Odin put out a hit on for crossing him, unaware that he had an infant son. So, Odin took him in. Now, on his deathbed, he lets the truth emerge which leads to Loki trying to grab for power over the family business before Thor has the chance to solidify his position as head of the family. Thor is conflicted because he genuinely cares about Loki because they grew up together, but Loki’s actions become more erratic and violent turning the whole city into chaos and Thor must find a way to stop him without putting him in the ground.  

I don’t normally like mob/mafia AUs, but this one was stuck in my head for a while. It doesn’t matter, though, because I never wrote it.
