Suddenly upset over Rowan of Rin 'cause this physically weak, terrified-of-everything kid is treated like shit by everyone in his village yet still manages to not only power through each potentially disastrous thing that comes his way, but also make all the jerks around him into better people by doing so!
Like, it's not an off-switch, some of the jerks are still jerks, but Rowan's persistence is such a lightbulb moment for all of them over the course of the series that it starts to make them better people. It's kindof. I dunno. The series is pretty heavily about empathy and facing fears and that people with huge issues who still manage to function are so strong but deserve help, and I am Very Emotional about this.
Also athenaltena reminded me that the book series I was talking about last night was the Wind on Fire series by William Nicholson, and the first one is The Wind Singer! Thanks so much. (I accidentally answered that ask privately, whoops.)

I still don't understand what the underage sex in IT was about. Like. What the fuck, Stephen King. What the fuck.
I’m so amused by the fact that everyone is like “wow, nobody that age should be able to learn that!” when Harry manages the Patronus Charm, yet all the kids he trains learn it.
It’s probably stating the obvious, but I think it’s less that the kids “can’t learn,” and more that none of them were never given the chance.
