Allegro Pastell
is a German film based on the novel by Leif Randt, and I caught it yesterday in the Mystery Preview.
It stars Jannis Niewöhner and Sylvaine Faligant, with Faligant being the one who stood out more to me and definitely left more of an impression.
Still, the film never really pulled me in. I found it more exhausting than engaging. Too much style, not enough substance. Most of the time, you’re just watching two people in their mid-30s go back and forth in a pretty toxic relationship. Addiction is also brought in, but only on the sidelines and never really explored in a meaningful way. The music was okay...
