Boo-Berry is a well-known parody of Peter Lorre, but less known is exactly which role Boo is spoofing. Boo-Berry is specifically based on Lorre's appearance in "Rope of Sand" (1949), in which he plays a black-market diamond salesman who constantly irritates the other characters by appearing mysteriously out of nowhere to pitch his sale. Sound familiar?
Personally, Boo-Berry is one of my favorite Peter Lorre parodies. Far too often PL spoofs just fall back on the old "Loony Tunes" caricature, which besides being needlessly grotesque, is just a very stiff and watered-down take on Lorre. Boo on the other hand is not only an original Peter Lorre spoof, but parodies his fluid movements and otherworldly vibe. It's also great to see PL's adorableness get its due recognition.
Unfortunately, the cereal itself tastes like sugary Styrofoam. I'm still glad I bought it though, because the cover is so damn cute.

General Mills commissioned puppets of their monster characters from the cereals to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Jim Henson Company! Just wanted to show how nice they look and how fun the back of the boxes are showing all the monsters Jim Henson has made over the years. There's a nice write up on the partnership here and a few fun shorts over on their youtube channel:

do you people UNDERSTAND the level of psychological damage this is causing me. jungkook n a ducati?!??! that man sat on a motorcycle and suddenly i have every emotion ever discovered by humanity at the exact same time. i want to bite him affectionately. i want to put him in my pocket. i want to shake him by the shoulders. i want to kiss his stupid handsome face and then fight him in a parking lot and then kiss him again dramatically under neon lights while cigarettes by chase atlantic plays in the background for absolutely no reason.
like why would he do this to ME specifically. leather jacket, tattoos, big bike, pretty face, evil smirk. this is not fan service anymore this is attempted manslaughter.
Happy Halloween from me and the General Mills cereal monsters! I drew these around two years ago and I still dig them
