Dymock's Building Bo'ness
This building comprises a group of traditional orange copperas-harled buildings arranged around a courtyard, now linked and converted for residential use. It's looking a bit shabby since my last visit about 3 years ago and could do with a paint job.
The building is one of the oldest in the town, built before 1650 and fued by the Duke of Hamilton to a William Thomsoun in that year. In 1720 it formed part of the dowry of Jean Gregorie when she married Thomas Dundas and was significantly altered at that time to form a fine residence. It seems to have been owned by a Mr Dymock in the early 19th century and came into the hands of John Anderson.
Dymock's Building has been converted and restored under the auspices of the Trust's Little Houses Improvement Scheme to form eight small flats for rent by Castle Rock Housing Association. Fine wood-panelled rooms dating from the 18th century have also been restored as part of the project. many skull appreciators among designers, as there should be, but can we consider the graceful curves of the ribcage? the interlocking phalanges? the poise of the calcaneus? perhaps branch out of our own species and open our eyes to the marvelous variety planet earth has to offer? consider the possibilities
