3: my favourite line of narration 

It’s really hard to choose but I’d probably go with this one from Pas de trois part 2: 

“They are playing chess in a game where she has already chosen not to be a queen. 

And what does that make her if not a pawn?”

4. my favourite line of dialogue 

Again I can’t choose but I’ll go with this line from Hana in Droit du Seigneur:

“Riley, have you ever noticed that really clever people don’t ask you for a huge favour outright? They take you most of the way there in small steps so that when it comes to the really hard ask, it’s only slightly removed from what you’ve already promised.”

5. What part was hardest to write?

Pas de trois part 4 although the end of part 5 destroyed me.

8. Did any real people or events inspire part of it?  

Sort of. Certain historical characters and events have influenced my thinking. I won’t say which ones as I think that would indicate where I’m headed with the story.

13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story? Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?

I have listened to so much music while planning and editing this story. I don’t listen while actually drafting because for me that requires complete focus, but there are a number of songs I always come back to. Interestingly they are often the same songs across different fics and fandoms (which probably means I’m exploring similar themes in my stories in different ways). My music taste is very eclectic. I listen to the same song every time I write a Maxwell sex scene and I don’t know if I’m going to admit what it is.

So - since you asked for it, here is what I would write as the “Like the French Do” playlist:

Not directly, but I’ve sprinkled things I’ve done/experienced in my fics, like bad dates and shouting at people blocking the DC metro escalators 😂

H: How would you describe your style?

fluffy, sometimes flangsty writer who can’t write a short drabble to save her life? 

R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

I’ll confess it’s been entirely too long since I’ve read a book book (a few memoirs/essay collections, and mostly business books as of late) to use as inspiration/comparison, but in the Choices tumblr-verse I really admire @domesticatedantelope and her writing style. She mixes in religious imagery like no other, and it blows my mind every time I read her stuff. @ao719 is my angsty Obi-Wan (yes, that’s your name now 😂) and sometimes when I need to write more angst into a scene I’ll ask myself “how would Anitah handle this?” and cross my fingers that it turns out right. @the-soot-sprite channels my snark waaaay too much 😂and while she’s not very active in this fandom anymore  @ooo-barff-ooo has such a way with words that I am wrecked with every Drake x Joanna update she posts. W R E C K E D. but I love her writing.

Hiya, @boneandfur! You didn’t send a prompt so I’m just gonna go with the first idea that popped into my head. Also, it’s more than three sentences...because of course it is. #wordybitch

Elle wobbles on her tiptoes, trying to see over the holiday crowds at the airport. Her heart sinks when she doesn’t see her boyfriend. Stupid being short, stupid traffic making me late, stupid...

“Looking for someone?” 

Elle spins around and shrieks jumping into Parker’s arms as he laughs and holds her close. She peppers his face with kisses before pulling back enough to take in his handsome face, so close after months of being apart. His kind eyes are warm and affectionate as he sets her down. 

“Hey, beautiful,” he smiles at her and Elle feels a warm glow of happiness wash over her as Parker ducks his head to give her a long, lingering kiss.
