Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast. 1/2 cup warm milk 110F / 43C. 2 large eggs. 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 cup Nutella. Vegetable oil for frying. Powdered sugar for dusting.
Instructions: In a bowl, combine warm milk and granulated sugar. Sprinkle yeast over the mixture and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add eggs, softened butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and knead the dough until smooth and elastic. This will take about 5-7 minutes. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size. Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Using a round cutter or glass, cut out circles from the dough. Place a small spoonful of Nutella in the center of each circle, then fold the dough over to enclose the Nutella and pinch the edges to seal. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350F 175C. Carefully place the filled Bomboloni into the hot oil and fry until they are golden brown on both sides, turning as needed, for about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the fried Bomboloni from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Dust the Nutella-filled Bomboloni with powdered sugar while they are still warm. Serve and enjoy your delicious Nutella-filled Bomboloni!
