Well, keep in mind that we only saw the first four episodes!

I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt. And I agree there’s no reason a story like that COULDN’T be explored in anime. But from watching 4 episode it felt like the same quasi-incest bullcrap I’ve seen a thousand times, and the only thing that would make you think it was anything different is that it had, from what I remember, a really put-on dark and broody atmosphere that felt like it was trying too hard.

Also if you want to tell a story like that maybe hold off on the scene where the dude discards his used tissues after masturbating to his teenage “sister” until like… episode 9 or something.
