This is a really old ask I apologize I just have so many good prompts come in that I get flooded and forget to go back but to quickly answer this, I think this is a vastly underrated pair.

I don't think these two are soulmates, I dont think they'd be a perfect match for each other, but by god I think Oikawa deserves a big himbo boyfriend that will just enthusiastically support everything he does and loudly declare his love for him and also volleyball and also that cat they adopted every day several times a day.

Oikawa as a character has such a tragic aura of sacrifice and constantly trying to push to be better and failure and Bokuto is... Such a good philosophical counterweight. Bokuto sometimes doesnt want to play volleyball just because the *vibes* are wrong and Oikawa, I think, could do well with some of that, instead of pushing himself to play even when he hates it.

I think Bokuto would spoil the shit out of him, and they'd have absolutely wild night of unfettered chaos that lands them both in moderate trouble. This would just be fun for both of them. They'd have so much fun together completely unburdened by expectation or drama or any of it. I truly think this would be like a 100% nontoxic, good relationship for them. Even if they broke up they'd probably stay really close friends.

Idk even though I myself have never really been able to ship these two, every time I think of them I get closer to thinking theyre actually a very good match in a lot of ways, especially for the kind of person Oikawa is. I think dating Bo and letting himself indulge in some genuine sweetie loving him would heal like 45% of his bitchass attitude.

Everyone deserves a romance like the one I think these two could have, even if it doesnt feel like it would last forever. Theyd just be good.
