"Bodega Cat" directed by Emmanuelle Martinez, premiered at the SVA Animation Junior Jammies last week! I did many things on it, but my key role on the film was storyboards. As I begin to share my work, let's start with my first assignment, which was thumbnails. These were done very early in production, when everything was still being figured out (even character designs, the cat being fat wasn't considered yet haha). This pass was mainly a starting point to help push the film forward, and it really grew from here, thanks to the work of everyone on the team! I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to work with such people under Emmanuelle's direction!

I sort of fell in love with an image from Bodegacatsofinstagram and decided to do a paint over. I hand-lettered all the korean in this image, though I admit it's all google translate so if I got something wrong that's why - I do not speak or read korean!

ย The voice - deep, soft and, oh, sad - pulls Bucky back to his actual job behind the counter of this shitty old bodega which, actually, he kinda loves. He looks up, then regrets it immediately, because Biceps McShoulders has ocean-blue eyes that Bucky could stare into for a creepy-stalker length amount of time. The guyโs beautiful.

Although, he thinks, as he looks around at his tiny little empire, heโs doing better at the issues, thanks to the VA and his old crew and his horrible therapist who does probably do him some good. Buckyโs doing so good, in fact, that he feels somewhat paternal towards the handsome stranger with the lost look in his eyes (who, letโs be honest, Buckyโs projecting a whole lot upon; dudeโs probably just having a crappy week and hereโs Bucky deciding heโs a vet who needs rescuing).
โSo no Alpine today?โ The guy has come up to the counter while Bucky was wool-gathering.
