May 14, 1989: Bobby McFerrin and the Graffiti Muppets perform together on episode 5 of The Jim Henson Hour.

The brightly colored Muppets were designed by Kirk Thatcher and performed by attaching rods to the performers' feet.

The second half of the episode was the special "Miss Piggy's Hollywood."

This episode truly spelled the beginning of the end for The Jim Henson Hour. The show had been moved to Sunday for this episode, airing on Mother's Day 1989, and was the lowest-rated program across the three major networks the week it aired.

I read a lot of other people’s blogs for a lot of reasons.  As an old writing teacher and retired Grammar Nazi, I love to see where writers are on the talent spectrum.  I have read everything from the philosophy of Camus and Kant to the beginning writing of ESL kids who are illiterate in two languages.  I view it like a vast flower garden of varied posies where even the weeds can be considered…

The friend I miss never really shared music with me, so it’s kind of strange that the songs you send often bring him to mind. It makes me wonder who you are.

I’ve heard this song before, of course, and at first I smiled big. But then a little sadness came in, because it reminded me of my friend and how much I miss him.

I guess you may be watching the Oscars tonight. My husband is watching them. I haven’t seen any of the movies.
