What you see is a image of the blue whaleâs heart which is the largest on Earth, weighing 400 lbs and beating only 2-10 times per minute. Itâs so big that a human could swim through its arteries!
The blue whale is the largest animal ever to have lived on Earth, even larger than most dinosaurs. It has a massive heart that pumps blood through its enormous body. It is about the size of a small golf cart or go-kart. It weighs about 400 pounds, which is more than 14 times as much as an elephantâs heart and 640 times as much as a humanâs heart. Itâs heart can beat only 2-10 times per minute when submerged, but it can increase to 25-37 times per minute when at the surface.
The blue whale's heart rate is influenced by the whaleâs size, condition, and diving behavior. Itâs heart pumps about 60 gallons of blood with each beat. Thatâs enough to fill a bathtub! The blood travels through arteries that are so wide that a human could swim through them. It's heart is very efficient at managing blood and oxygen levels during long dives. The whale can hold its breath for up to 90 minutes and dive as deep as 1,640 feet.
The blue whaleâs heart is also very flexible and adaptable. It can change its shape and size depending on the whaleâs needs and environment. It is truly a remarkable organ that enables this giant creature to survive and thrive in the ocean. I hope you enjoyed learning about it. đđđđł
