Made a home plaque for my fiancée and I to protect our home from any bad energies and spirits who may have bad intentions.
I glued together a wooden heart plaque and a wooden anchor from nearby dollar stores to make a semblance of a Camargue Cross (mine doesn’t have tridents).
There is a region in the South of France called the Camargue. According to local custom, it is where beloved Mary Magdalene and companions landed after being cast out of Palestine. Their cross features tridents for faith, and to represent the bull herders’ tools in the region. As it’s regional to them and I have no link to that part of France (northern and western France are my distant ancestors’ stomping grounds), I opted for the more universal combination of heart and anchor in Christian symbolism. The heart symbolizes charity and the Three Marys of the Sea (triple the protection), and the anchor represents hope (and for me, it’s also a symbol for Saint Anne, homekeeper and guardian).
I got her Irish roots and my Acadian roots in the anchor prongs, and our favourite flowers (tulips and blueflag irises). We’re both water signs, so a seashell is included. She wants to take my last name, so I’m very happy to have our name welcoming our friends to our home, both spiritual and physical.
