I feel like ragebait and engagement bait is the silent killer on Tumblr. Some right-wing grifter on Twitter makes an outrageous post that they might not even believe, and then they get a bunch of us to respond.
They have a blue check, meaning they are making money from the engagement. So we're silently giving them support while draining our own energy reserves.
What can we do about this? The only thing I can think of is to find a liberal account with a blue check and every time we want to engage with a shithead, instead we engage with that liberal one.
