There's something different about putting on a dress when you know how it was made.

A BANJAARA block print dress begins with natural Indian cotton and a hand-carved wooden block. The block is dipped into dye and pressed onto the fabric by hand, one impression at a time.

More detailed patterns can require several blocks and layers of colour, with each one carefully aligned by the artisan.

And because it's done by hand, no two pieces are exactly the same.

You might notice a tiny variation in the print or colour. Rather than seeing that as a flaw, we like to think of it as a little reminder of the person behind the fabric.

Our dresses are made in small batches with artisan communities in Northern India, using traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations.

From flowing maxis to everyday midis and easy mini dresses, the silhouette may be contemporary, but the craft behind it is anything but new.

That's the part of slow fashion we love most — giving old skills a place in modern wardrobes.

For my second trick in my terrible tarot, I present the "joker" of the deck, the Shitty Gay Wizard! He clearly has a despicable character, and he is a creature of entropy, if not abject destruction.

So I'm making a tarot-eque fortune telling system, as part of a big elaborate joke and also to get myself to do some more block printing. Here's #1, the leader of the deck.
