Today, I did lots of different illustrations with different techniques and medians. First we had to do blind drawings with continuous line of photos of either family photos or photos we had printed out. I used the photos we had printed out for us as I liked all the different shapes of the different people. Derek timed us on each blind drawings with continuous line, some of them we draw back into three times or even we had to draw more than one blind drawing in of a person in the box. After we produced twelve blind drawings with continuous line we used sharpie to add boldness. I decided to just outline the bodies and faces of the figures to add something unique to my blind drawings.Â
After we had completed our blind drawings we created these face illustrations. Firstly we got a paintbrush and wrapped masking tape around the bottom of the paintbrush to create this weird brush shape. We got some black ink and some water. We dipped the masking tape end into the black ink and started to rapidly draw different faces. I added water to my drawings to give it some more tone and show to my paintings. I added some drips to give it that crying look and add some uniqueness to my ink paintings.
My favourite part has to be the ink paintings as I’ve never drawn anything like that using those techniques so it was all new to me. I loved how each on of my ink painting turned out and I can’t wait to add some watercolour to develop my work even more. To improve both of my pieces of work from today I would add some colour to each piece of work using either watercolour or acrylic paint. Â
