delicate things can still be deadly

I’m sooo allergic to lilies!! I could feel my nose tickling as I walked in, so I sat as far away from the flower arrangements as possible, but I knew it was going to be bad. They were the big white ones with pink inside, and I could just feel a sneeze building and building.

There was a woman a few rows in front of me who sneezed a couple of quite strong sneezes while we were waiting to start, which *did not* help, because I was trying not to think about the tickle. (I’ve always thought that lilies are a risky wedding flower because it seems like lots of people are either allergic to them, or just sneeze because the scent is so strong.)

I couldn’t stop myself sneezing (of course!!) but I was doing a good job of stifling - but then the bridesmaids and bride walked down the aisle with their bouquets and I sneezed a huge sneeze because I couldn’t hold it back. I remember being relieved because everyone was sitting down again, and so it wasn’t obvious. BUT then I couldn’t stifle - I had a handkerchief so I muffled them, but once I start to sneeze with lilies I can lose control quite quickly, so I fled to the toilets after a while and sneezed (and sneezed and sneezed) out the tickle!!

Luckily the bride wasn’t someone I was super close to (family friend) so neither of us was particularly upset that I missed the ceremony.

Here’s a video from a couple of years ago that I don’t think I’ve posted (maybe the audio at some point?) of me losing it at the end of a lily sneezing fit (that I thought was recording but wasn’t - I think I needed to sneeze so badly that I didn’t manage to hit the record button, and only noticed right at the end🤣). I don’t usually sneeze in multiple multiples like this, but lilies = chaos.

happy saturday! the second clip might sound a little weird, but i genuenly could not take a breath between sneezes, so it might sound weird. i was also really pent up so if it sounds n s f w its because it is.
