Blaire is one of the Twin Talons of the Silver-Veins werewolf pack, and Lyre is a Salubri death cult "victor." Loads upon loads of people say they shouldn't be together, but frankly all criticism is falling on deaf ears. Who cares! They're having fun and that's what matters most to them - even if the entire mountain range is mad about it.

If Blaire was any type of plant, what plant would they be?
After a brief bit of research and a lot of debating about how much I can say without it bleeding into spoiler territory, I think I've found a suitable plant: the Rosary Pea.
Explanation below but it may get a little spoilery (it stays vague though so nothing too bad)
Firstly, the plant is native to regions such as India, tropical Asia and Africa, and the Pacific Islands; it's not native to places like England, which the setting of Mortalis is based on, but has been introduced to places like Florida, Hawaii, and the West Indies.
Secondly, it has a fairly unassuming appearance (and oval berries; I use a lot of round/oval shape language in Blaire's design to make him looks sort of soft/not intimidating) but the entire plant is actually toxic, with the seeds being especially toxic to humans.
Third, the seeds have ties to various religious practices. Although Blaire has no major ties to religion, it is a recurring theme in the story as a whole. Additionally, they are believed to ward off evil, which may tie more directly to Blaire and/or his actions (much later in the story).
Finally, the seeds are used in other things like jewelry and sometimes toys despite their toxicity. They're used to make something else, something useful.
As a sidenote, I love when people refer to Blaire using they/them. While in the story they are in fact a cis man and he/him is used throughout the comic, Blaire doesn't actually care what pronouns are used for them and he is designed to be more androgynous. :>
