This is one of the coolest projects I’ve had the chance to work on! I’ve designed artwork for plenty of axe blades, but never a double bit axe and never with an Irish/Celtic mythology theme. The artwork depicts characters from the Cu Chulainn mythology. You’ll see on the blade on the left Cu Chulainn/Setanta and on the right blade is the hound of Chulainn. They are charging at each other creating some dynamic artwork on the blades while also telling a story. @sharpbycoop shot this guy at blade for me, 400 layer blade in, a ladder pattern, nickel silver guard maple handle with silver inlay. I made this knife intending to submit it for the ABS Moran award @blade_show and I won! This was another one that was a cool learning experience. So for this year, I wanted to enter the Sinnsyk prototype in the @blade_show best of show competition. There are a copious amount of categories to enter into, so I’m still trying to decide the best fit. I have never entered my work to be judged by a panel before. I don’t know if our knife is even in the same realm as our more experienced and skilled makers. However, there is no way to ever know the answers to those questions if you don’t try. Once entered, if accepted- this Sinnsyk will be on display in the center cabinet just outside of the main entrance of the event.
