Today I decided that I would go shopping for a few new tea flavours to try. However, because I have absolutely no impulse control, that "few" I originally had in mind soon turned into seven- seven tea flavours. They were on special, but still!
These new additions to my collection bring my total up to a whopping fourteen- and counting. Because I try so many different teas, I thought it would be fun to document them each into a little mini-series.
Today's tea is: Cardamon, Ginger and Orange!
Initial thoughts: At first glance, this tea looked amazing. It's packaging was lovely, it smelled delicious and just sounded warm and cozy- which is definitely a good thing considering we're going through the rear end of winter right now. After pulling out the sachet the scent really came through, and I could smell it even from the next room while I waited for the jug to boil. The tea turned an enticing, almost caramel-like colour once boiling water was added.
The taste test: On the first sip, the immediate taste on my tongue was of the orange. Subtle yet sweet, it was quickly washed out by a strong ginger flavour. I wouldn’t go so far as to call this “spicy,” but there was definitely a warm aftertaste accompanied by a light touch of cardamon.
Overall: This is the kind of tea I would curl up in bed with while it rained down outside. It’s sweet but not sickly, yet with a small kick to it so it isn’t overbearing to your tastebuds and doesn’t have an annoyingly long-lasting aftertaste. This is definitely one of my new favourites.
Thank you so much for reading! As mentioned above, I do have thirteen other teas to try, but let me know if there’s a particular tea you’d like me to review and I’ll try my hardest! I’m doing this mostly as my own documentation, but I would love to hear your thoughts.
