IMPORTANT STREAMING TONIGHT...
Today is June 1st, pride month begins and before we start changing the topic we must recognize those who fought for our community.
Stonewall Inn was one of the few places where people in the community could be free. On June 28, 1969, the police began to harass those who were in that place and for the first time the community united to defend themselves.
Of course, what I just wrote is a very very short summary, so at the end of the post I will put links so that everyone can inform themselves.
It is important to mention Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera and Stormé DeLarverie, who played a key role in inspiring others to confront the police.
Marsha P. Johnson and Stormé DeLarverie were women of color, and of course this is important because today before we start talking about LGBTQ + we have to give visibility to what is happening. Today we have to look back and thank those who fought for us when the system oppressed them in such a way. Today we have to look outside our bubble and support those who need it.
The fight is everywhere, so let's start with ourselves, let's ask ourselves if we are part of the problem, we must inform ourselves, discrimination and oppression is everywhere, let's not stay silent, silence means being complicit.
