Peace #blackbookstagram fam, This message is to provide notice that we will no longer be appealing @facebook's constant rejections of our content. Although we have worked tirelessly to present and introduce #blackauthors and #blackillustrators on our @instagram page, we do not have the bandwidth to dispute these item rejections or defend the integrity of our account. Since we've launched @popupstorytime, we've been forced to jump through hoops and constantly prove our content is not illicit. While there appears to be no rhyme or reason behind our #books being flagged other than the fact that we primarily highlight #blackwriters, the frequency and range in which they have been censoring our content has become too much to bear. Either we're appealing a new post or receiving an email regarding the compliance of an old post and none of it makes sense. Our intent has always been to provide a platform for #Blerds to be #seenandheard and to transform #publicspaces into #centersforthearts. Although we have been providing free #communityarts programs since 2009, in 2019 we launched our #popupbookshop and #onlinebookstore to #maketheartsmoreaccessible. Essentially, for the past 13 years we have been a destination for #positiverecreation and #freefamilyfun yet the #facebook and #instagram algorithms do not appear to take that into account. If you would like to continue to engage with #scribesandvibes, please visit the #linkinbio and/or join us at @coffeehouseandculture for the latest @scribesandvibes news. We remain committed to our mission to #amplifyblackvoices and #makeitcooltobesmart. Although we've decided to no longer beg these platforms to provide a place for our #bookcommunity to belong, we will continue to hold space at #coffeeshops, #libraries, and #bookstores.
