This was the easiest part of the #blackhawktrail. Believe it or not the trail got steep enough that there were a couple of switchbacks midway. On the plus side, this is a great trail for people who are social distancing. It's rare to find water and a full lake surrounded by cacti in the Southwest. We did at Patagonia Lake. This oasis in the desert is just 15 miles from the Mexico border. We hiked the Blackhawk, Sonoita Creek and Overlook trails in the Sonoita Creek Natural Area. The trail starts by crossing the dam and then follows the creek west where you can see a few waterfalls. The trail crosses the creek and heads south before looping back. This west section is where you can find a slot canyon if you pay close attention, it is fairly hidden. We continued back towards the trailhead and took the Overlook trail which loops up and around the mountain.
