I've been thinking of removing the J-fashion aspect of Skye Crystal’s Recovery Diary altogether. In concept, I wanted certain J-Fashions, like Hime Gayru and Jirai kei, to be part of the characters' healing process, especially Skye's and Neomi's. Another concept I had was for Seraphina to pique an interest in EGL fashion, i.e., Chinese lolita. But seeing all the discourse around artists drawing J-fashion on social media platforms, I'm afraid of backlash due to not drawing them the "correct way," And the backlash becomes so intense that the message gets lost amid the passions of these subcultures. So I'm thinking of starting over from scratch and finding something that still gets the message across while fitting their personality and journeys. I haven't made my final decision yet, just a food for thought, venting, and ranting.

I just thought.

How many films and pieces of art exist like Sinners, but never made it off the ground ‘cause of how Hollywood functions and how little newer artists get the chance to prove themselves unless they’re lucky or find the correct connections inside the industry?

There’s artists workin’ their ass off and it breaks my heart we don’t get to see the greatness they created.

Plenty of equally movin’ pieces, yet, we’ll never know.

They don’t wanna risk their chances with new faces, new talent.

Another dyin’ industry is scoutin’.

People could do what they love at a live mic or for fun on the street, get scouted, find connections, then they’re the next big name.

We’re so entirely disconnected from what art’s supposed to mean. At least, enough that artists often aren’t new anymore.

We’ll see a new face maybe every decade or so. (Mostly referrin’ to actin’ and film makin’ btw).

Just blows my mind. Idk.

That or their talent’s stolen. Someone else gets to profit off of colonization.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Samuel L. Jackon even mentioned how filmin’ ain’t done the same no more neither. That a lot of people use digital instead of film, so they’re likely to rush their crews or be less mindful on what should be kept or disregarded, etc.

I feel… we don’t give crews or those who help projects come alive enough respect. Coogler’s a gem for doin’ the bare minimum in that regard and I love that he’s changin’ how we appreciate, approach and consume media/art.

It’s a lot on my mind. Too much. Just wanted to rant as an artist myself.
