This is basically what has been happening in BL for years, now on a much grander scale:

I can't tell you how happy I am that Heated Rivalry was finally made into a show, even though I have to admit that it wasn't my favourite book of the series when it came out. Definitely, you should read all of them, which is why I won't put them in the list below. And yes, I read it back when it first came out and now read it again while/ after watching the show.

Even before and since then I have read tons of MM books and I thought I'd share some of my favourites with you and who knows, maybe one day one of them will also be made into a movie/ show? (Aside from the obvious one that already happened)And yes, some are older, some newer...deal with it ;)

I am also sure that I forgot some, because I’ve read so many, so I might update this or make a part 2.

In no particular order:

Red white Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston

Obviously. I think everyone knows that one by now. I do love the cast of the movie, especially Nic Galitzine but the book is great. Read it!

You & Me by Tal Bauer

Two dads with sons in High school fall for one another. Their sons are best friends and one dad has always thought of himself as straight. For whatever reason I can't find the kindle version on amazon anymore, even though I own it. But it's totally worth buying even as paperback.

God of Fury by Reina Kent

In a world where rich mafia kids at College mess each other up, the aggressive but puppy like bad guy falls for the pretend good artsy kid with too many issue to count. I've read other books of this series and I am not too good with non-con and all that is usual in dark romances. While it's dark here as well and dubious at times, it applies more to the world around them and less to the two main characters. Really really good book that I will definitely read again.

Art History by Hartlee Finn

College professors/ director clashing and hating on each other because they were lovers once.. and of course can't keep their hands off one another even though they are hurting.

Nothing left to lose by N.R. Walker

A straight guy submits a fake wedding pic of him and his gay best friend to a contest to win a vacation and they do win, but have to fake being married now. Problem: Gay best friend has been in love with him since forever and the straight guy isn't so straight after all. No idea what that cover is, but the book is good.

Enemies with benefits by N.R. Walker

This is actually really fucked up and spicy for a long time, but really touching at the same time. guy from very humble background has always hated the rich guy he went to school with for a while. Years later said rich guy becomes his boss and the two end up hate fucking each other in a way that's kind of Dom/sub, painful, bdsm-ish, because rich guy needs physical pain to feel anything and fight his demons.

Ancient history by A.J. Truman

it's part of a series (read all of them!) about teachers at a school falling for one another. This one has a coach coming back to his former high school as a teacher where he now has to work side by side with his first love, the guy he dumped right before prom and has never got over.

The prince and the player by Nora Phoenix

Also part of a series. Reminded me of "Young Royals" a bit just more lighthearted. Prince goes to school abroad and gets hated on by his soccer teammate and so they start hooking up.

The gentle art of Fortune Hunting

Another series. Set in the past, very "Bridgerton" vibes. Poor guy and his sister make a living out of scheming rich lords and ladies out of their money to be a part of rich society. When the young man charms the niece of a lord to get her fortune, he ends up falling for her grumpy, hot lord uncle who sees right through him.

Boyfriend material by Alexis Hall

I am actually wating for this one to be made into a movie, because it's so... cliche, but in a good way? Fucked up bad boy needs a fake date to save his image and gets the stuck up good guy to agree to it. You can guess the rest ;) I have to say though that it's not as spicy as some of the others.

Emerett has never been in love by Anyta Sunday

This is basically "Emma" in gay and Mr. Knightley is the best friend's dad and smoking hot.

The secret lives of country Gentlemen by KJ Charles

Another series... Guy has a hookup with a hot guy and then inherits a title of "Sir" and a grand house that he suddenly has to manage. Problem: Smugglers are in the area, dangerous and violent. When he meets the worst of them, the guy is awfully familiar and he wants him naked instead of dead.

Kiss the Villain by Rina Kent

I am generally less enthused when they bring in a straight man (not sexually), a civilian if you will, a normal person, and then they just suffer through the freak and manipulation. I'm watching My Stubborn and on a scale of petevegas to tharntype these two are definitely unremarkable in toxicity, BUT they ick me more than petevegas.

Pete was only helpless against Vegas' manipulation when he had no choice. When given choice he: knocked Vegas out with a fist cuff to his face, pulled a gun on him, shot him, punched him a few more times just to be sure. And in a span of several days, not as one angry reaction. Pete, the man who definitely killed his father to end the abuse, will keep Vegas in check. Vegas and Chay? Would suck. Chay would be broken, a victim to Vegas' horrors. Pete is like: "Oh you didn't decimate your horrors in a murderous rage? Sounds like a skill issue."

And Chay would softly wash Kim's bloody hands secure in the knowledge that he'll never be at the receiving end.

That's that beautiful toxicity match. Bison and Kant. The man who will beat up anyone who flirts with Kant and the man who will flirt with people just to see Bison go fucking insane? Chef's kiss.

LWJ and WWX, seemingly less murderous, but LWJ is literally changing the entire system of governance because his demon controlling husband made one good point once by killing a bunch of people and then dying.

Hua Cheng and Xie Lian. Do i need to speak?

Anyway my point is, you gotta match the freak. It's not about personalities or morals. It just has to be the right kind of weirdo for the right kind of weirdo.

Abusing and policing people is totally an unacceptable behaviour. And not to mention some of them even write posts, edit the pics in a way that is too much to look at.

I can go all day but I guess it won't make much of a difference.

I think that if you realize that it's not good for you, just don't go there anymore. look for sides where you get the news you want without the drama or follow only those and block the rest. if it's upsetting you, it's not worth it.

At the end of the day no matter of it's Bl or the boyfriend: it's entertainment. It's shows or content created for an audience to enjoy and consume in order to make money. It's really not deeper. Everything else is folklore and tales that are irrelevant other than to the people who make money with it and those who actively spend it as fans.

And I say this because I've seen that there are some of these mewgulf fans who complained about the way Mew and Tul made their relationship known and not only that, there are some who believe that everything is fake 🤯

Them reasons for saying this are: 

Mew and Tul don't look each other in the eyes while they talk in the interview, the disgusted face that Mew makes when Tul licked his hand, that when there is no camera to see them you don't see interaction and chemistry between them, that Mew didt not directly say the name of the person who is his partner, that they have not received any congratulations from their friends, etc,etc

How can they think that coming out is something fake? 🤦

Seeing how these mewgulf fans keep sharing those moments from the past between Mewgulf and that they think everything was true makes me think that they want to see that same fanservice (these fans don't believe it was fs) between Mew and tul to consider them as a real couple (these fans need help)

At the end of the day I think that what Mew and tul do or don't do them will always judge because it doesn't meet their expectations. Even if they had made their relationship known, for example on Woody's show or at a press conference, they would find something to criticize.

And it's sad because you would expect that someone who watches bl/gl shows would be understanding people who support the LGBTQ+ community and it's the opposite, they don't support a real couple and many turn out to be homophobic.

The thing is, sorry for being so blunt, that full on sex tapes of the two of them could be leaked and these shippers would still find excuses why they are fake, forced, etc etc. There are people (note that I am not talking about all of the MG fans. I know many of them have congratulated Mew and say they wish him happiness) who have reached a stage of denial, where they only see what they want to see and make everything fit according to their own delusions.

We've seen the same thing before in many other fandoms. My personal favorite example being Build's fans during his 2nd and 3rd scandal. The accusations came out, no one knew anything about what was true and what wasn't, because ultimately none of us was there. What seemed true pretty quickly was that B and P were a couple at one point and then it went bad. His fans denied everything: That he would never be with her bc she's too ugly, not to speak of sleeping with her. He's so cute, so he can't hurt anyone, he would never take her money because he doesn't need it.... People like me, who said "We don't know. I don't condemn him (yet) because we have to wait for an investigation" got attacked from both sides, because a. we didn't simply deny everything based on nothing and b. didn't want to cancel him (yet) because again all we had were the accusations. Then the settlement came and went sth like "yes, she was hurt by him but it was, uh, rough play and he gave the money and car and presents back and, uh, she also exaggerated and posted fake pics. They both fucked up." Guess what? His fans turned that (and still do!) into "He's innocent and she is guilty because she lied about everything".

The whole thing got a second round when the chat messages got leaked where he talked shit about everyone on BOC, even Bible, because he was nice to him, used homophobic slurs and was just a petty and awful person. While I agree that one should never release private messages , the fact remained that he wrote those messages, which was quickly confirmed by: yes, himself, because he apologised for writing them. Confession is no problem for a fandom in denial though. First of all they wouldn't believe it because the messages were leaked against his will. Then they were just faked just to take him down. Then when he admitted to them, they claimed he only admitted to the first couple of messages and the rest was fake. Then all of BOC unfollowed him so the hate of his fans turned to them, even more than before. Suddenly a tale was spun (makes me giggle until this day) that someone inside of BOC had hired first 166 later 172 people to ruin his career. Please don't ask me where they got these numbers from, I have no clue. Someone threw it out there without any proof and everyone just ran with it. Now he is using their delusions to create a whole "phoenix from the ashes"narrative and plays as cutesy as can be on stage, while he travels from fanmeet to fanmeet to make money. He released a song aimed directly at his fans and even had a short series released on his youtube channel (which was advertised as an international filming project), that got him the necessary clicks needed to make money off the channel where he now releases vlogs that wouldn't have got him the necessary engagement to earn sth. I'm curious to see when that cash cow will die and what is going to come next. It doesn't look like anyone in Thailand wants to work with him again, so we'll see. If you look at his fans though, they vote like crazy to get him awards like "thailands hottest actor" or sth similar, claim he was staring in international projects, hot advertising campaign and is basically just one step away from an academy award and world domination, while not realising that they are singlehandedly funding all of his projects at the moment So yeah, you can see how far delusions go and that you can good money off them.

Although there are many factors involved. I'd like to think and believe that BL and GL series played a significant role in normalising and showing just how beautiful same sex relationships can be. Also, it cannot be a coincidence that these two asian countries that moved towards this step happen to be two of the biggest producers of BL and GL series.

Taiwan was the first asian country to legalise same sex marriage on 24th May 2019.
