Here is my ongoing playlist with all the favs across the years btw. But I'll try to choose current ones.

#1 Ray 黃霆睿 - 我不該 I Shouldn’t (My Tooth Your Love)

This one is featured cause I wait for this new Taiwanese BL with bated breath. @thisonelikesaliens, this one was chosen with you in mind as well ;)

#2 osage - 夜煩い(feat.石野理子) (If It's With You)

I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I've been to Enoshima and saw a couple of the locations from the series. This song was in the back of my mind during the trip.

#3 Ayumu Imazu - Sunshower (Eternal Yesterday)

One of the best ever. I am not crying you are.

#4 Wetter - You N Me Us (The Eighth Sense)

This is the song I would recognise by the first note, anywhere at any time. It reminds me of the moment I fully joined the fandom, and honestly, the beginning of 2023 was such a fabulous moment in BL-land. I might be biased, but whoa, so many shows from that time are a staple.

#5 Ben & Ben - Ride Home (Gaya Sa Pelikula)

Honestly, I am in such a mood today that I should have put all songs from this series here, and that would be it. Song-wise, this is definitely my favourite soundtracks of all the BL series.

#6 BUS - No-status Status (Gelboys)

I don't know why this song is so addictive. I love production on this one so damn much (especially in the verses).

#7 Hiroba, Ai Otsuka - Futatabi (The End of the World with You)

It hits just right.

#8 Xiao Yu - I Believe (First Note of Love)

The synths are delicious, the vocals are smooth, and the chorus melody haunts my dreams.

#9 Billkin/PP Krit - Skyline (I Told Sunset About You)

I love this song in Chinese, in Thai, played only on piano and with a grand orchestra. In every shape or form, this melody's lyrics combo is unbeatable.

#10 NuNew - รักคุณยิ่งกว่าใคร (Cutie Pie 2)

Nunew's voice in this song is FANTASTIC, all the vibrato is making me swoon. And I would fully support if he wanted to be luk thung artists in the future or sth.

Where is Keng Harit's Mantra you ask? I think I overdosed on it, and I need a break to appreciate it again lmao.

This song is so good it was used in two GMMtv shows, airing at the same time, produced by the same man, on the same channel. We first hear it in Never let me go (episode 05) as Palm ravenously kisses Nueng (for a long long long long time) for the first time.

THEN it came back in Moonlight Chicken (episode 01) as Uncle Jim and Wen do everything but kiss under the moonlight. Aof and Jojo really said we both using it to be desperate and erotic and what of it. 10/10 no notes.

I'm afraid I may not be the person for this. My dislike of a boy + guitar as a trope extends to most other aspects of the music in any given show. It's pretty rare for me to like a theme song (let alone background stuff) and so far only 2 shows from Japan (Eternal Yesterday & Our Youth) and a half dozen or so from Korea have entered the sacred space of OTS graduating onto one of my playlists.

I generally listen to Kpop, and I tend to prefer songs/groups that go pretty hard (less bubblegum and more rock). So many OSTs are just overly saccharine for me. There are always exceptions.

For example, I agree with you on Heart Killers. Although I did find some of theirs a little... well... silly.

Thus I don't go to any effort to track down or engage with soundtracks. I simply follow various YT content creators who report (with samples) on new comebacks out of Korea. I follow up with the songs I like. (I'm not a gen 5, or even much of a gen 4 stan, so I rarely go for albums anymore.)

The Technical Bit

I can tell you what I would do. Since you did ask.

Just load up Shazam, SoundHound or (likely best, since it's from Tencent) QYin to my phone and hold it up to the speaker on my watching device while that song is going. (Rumor is WeChat's "Shake" feature works particularly well for Chinese stuff.)

Once the app gave me the title, I'd search for it on YT or in a music app using the song title in the original language's script (just copy and paste that from google or whatever).
