they were in a childhood wilderness hiking group together or smth (well, katsuki was, deku was left with them while his mom foraged for rotting stuff 👍)

im too shy to post the monster stufffff maybe soon, i feel like the design is all over the place rn 😭🫣

some things:

deku can speak pretty normally but that wasn’t always the case

he’s called deku bc when they first met as children he would move really oddly(because he’s all folded up into a human shape) (kindaa would move like a marionette)

he’s a scavenger/necrophage so he mostly just eats whatever food katsuki brings him

deku’s mom was killed by a mimic. he’s a mimic mimic, so its like… the behavior is modeled on the more dangerous human hunting mimic. biggest difference between the false mimic and true mimic is the false mimic can turn into its ‘tree form’ and the true mimic retains a mostly adult human silhouette throughout its life cycle.

and alsoooo the false mimic is *like* a kind of squid with some bizarre exoskeleton bs happening and the true mimic is like… a scarier squid… very territorial
