#bizarre doll

It's just me or anyone else noticed the bizarre dolls walking here?

One of the interesting things in the new chapter occurs when Doll gives Finny and Snake a tour of the orphanage, and shows them how the children are divided into four classes.

These presumably align with blood type, and each one has a set “uniform” they wear, and each is named after a dog breed. Three are breeds that originated in the UK (Corgi, English Mastiff, Collie), but one is from Germany, the “most special” group, the Pomeranian Class.

It’s possible that this is very intentional and meant to have a double meaning— not only the dog, who is a small breed that is a toy and companion but also a working dog— but also, that it’s a region in Germany.

The Pomeranian is a sized-down German Spitz, and apparently Queen Victoria owned a small one and it helped to popularize the toy size, the breed shrinking by half during her reign… so definitely an apt name for Ciel clones. (She in a sense created the breed as we know it. Could this be a jab at how the Queen controls her watchdogs?)

Each class has a different focus, it seems. Whether it’s physical tasks, homemaking skills, or knowledge…

Undertaker seems to be creating some kind of army, and perhaps not just as blood banks….

Interestingly, Doll does not seem to be included in any of the classes as they’re wearing the same clothes they did when they were with the circus troupe. Doll also seemed to have sway over the matrons, so perhaps Undertaker has Doll running the show with the matrons there as figure heads ?

It also supports my theory that Finny and Snake do not have “normal” human blood, since they were going to be turned away, implying they don’t fit into one of the four classes/blood types…. Could it be possible UT has some connection to where Snake and Finny came from?

This is definitely the most unsettling of the three locales we’ve seen so far…

Dear Anon,

I think I made you wait a month, I am so terribly sorry!

I do indeed think that crushing expectations and an imposed position of power can make someone quite unpredictable. I...speak from personal experience... A child raised under high expectations tries to not disappoint, and hides all imperfections. But a human is still human, so at times the most extreme of that suppressed core can show itself the moment it can no longer be suppressed. That is how sometimes such people have very unexpected reactions/sides to them, because they're always micro-managing themselves.

I am fairly sure that if R!Ciel had actual time to gradually grow into a 13 year old through experience rather than just being revived, he would have turned out different. He would have had time to get to terms with himself, think about how and what he finds beneficial to present and otherwise suppress. (Yes, "beneficial". I refuse to believe R!Ciel would not be a person guided by "benefits" vs "detriments".) What we are seeing here in Doll R!Ciel is essentially a 10 year old's most extreme instincts unfiltered by conscience. That is what makes a Bizarre Doll: a shadow of a human without brakes.

I do think R!Ciel's control-obsession would be 100% the same though. Someone raised under high expectations and no room to fail often has control issues. Growing up with a "great destiny" essentially means you grow up dictated by adults' and your "destiny's" control. With so little control in your own hands, you often divert that control onto something or somebody else. In R!Ciel's case, I dare say it was O!Ciel.

Long story short; had R!Ciel lived, then he would probably have become more subtle, more manipulative, and no less of a prick we'd all love to hate. I think what we are seeing here is just baby-Vincent who is drunk beyond personal control.

An idea that was rolling around in my mind for ages, of an AU where Undertaker managed to kill Seb with his death scythe on the Campania, and Ciel was forced to flee the ship without his butler...

So Undertaker nabs the body instead. 

R!Ciel was there, right in front of Sebastian, the demon missed him for a few seconds, he was covered by Agares' tunic. But He Was Right There! 🤣 Damn! Well Seb can’t sense his presence....
