If youâre inexperienced in bisexual dating, finding someone to talk to about it can be tricky at first. Just because you like both guys and girls doesnât mean that youâre someone who should hide who they are. However, letting potential dates know that youâre bisexual and that youâre attracted to both genders is a good idea for fair playâs sake.
Whether youâre just now delving into bisexual dating or have already hooked up with people in the past, hereâs what you can do to make your future dates more enjoyable.
1. Donât Compromise your Standards
Just because you are bisexual doesnât mean that your dating standards should be lower than anyone elseâs. You deserve just as much love, understanding, and acceptance as straight or openly LGBTQ+ people looking for dates. To that end, donât accept any potential date coming your way because you simply want to be with someone.
Try to learn more about the person youâre considering as a potential date before you go any further. You donât want your feelings hurt and you donât want to give them wrong ideas about whether youâre straight, bi, or gay. Be open about who you are and what kind of a relationship youâre looking for and youâll be pleasantly surprised as to how many people will return the favor with equal openness.
2. Look for Other Bi People
A good way to eliminate any potential confusion or awkward situations happening is to simply look for other bi people to date. People with the same sexual orientation as you will be more open to meeting up with you and considering a romantic relationship. Keep in mind that the definition of being bisexual has somewhat shifted over the years since the advent of new gender identities in recent years.

As you look for potential dates, you may come across people who identify as something other than a male or a female â and thatâs okay! They still might be bi but consider the word âbiâ as something more than just being attracted to two genders. The gist of it is that you should talk openly to anyone who you might go on a date with so that no uncomfortable subjects come up over coffee.
3. Give Online Dating a Shot
Online dating can be a great way for you to meet potential love interests without going out of your way to meet people in real life yet. It can also be an amazing way for you to meet bisexual people from around the world, chat about your dating experiences, and maybe even arrange real-life meetings.

4. Differentiate Polyamorous and Bisexual Dating
The most important thing you should clear up from day one, with yourself and with anyone you might date, is what bisexual dating means. Bisexual dating doesnât mean dating several partners at once, especially with those partners not knowing about one another. Open relationships with several partners participating in the relationship are called polyamory.
You should make it clear to the person youâre chatting with or considering going on a date with that youâre interested in bisexual dating, not polyamory. If you are indeed interested in polyamory or an open relationship, make that fact clear as well. You donât want to hurt anyoneâs feelings just as you donât want your feelings to be hurt by someone who âmisunderstoodâ what kind of a relationship youâre in. This will help you avoid unnecessary heartache and make it much easier for you to find a suitable bisexual dating partner.
5. Practice Safe Sex Precautions
Once you start dating someone, youâll inevitably arrive at your first sexual experience. Whether youâre bisexual, gay, straight, or anywhere on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, make sure that youâre always safe about how you approach sex. Even if youâve dated someone for 6 months before considering sex, you still donât know much about them, especially from a health perspective. Here are a few tips which will help you avoid unnecessary problems:
Talk about your past sexual experiences with one another
Always use a condom in case of vaginal penetration
Take a shower and brush your teeth before the encounter
Settle on a safe word before you engage in sex
Use sanitized, clean sex toys regardless of your genders
As you can see, these tips are very much common-sense when you start having sex with someone youâve just started dating. However, theyâre very important for both of your long-term health because you can never really know what the other person is doing in their spare time.
Moreover, your bisexual dating partner will appreciate the fact that youâre being safe about sex, which will give you extra points in their eyes. Alternatively, if they consider these tips rude or unnecessary, itâll be a good indication for you to reconsider whether youâd be comfortable trusting them with your body in a more intimate sense.
Giving Bisexual Dating a Shot
Youâll never know who you might meet if you donât give bisexual dating a fair shot. While you may feel anxious or shy about being openly bisexual right now, once you meet the person whoâll accept you for who you are, thatâll all change for the better.
Keep these tips in mind when you start dating, be open and accepting of the person you meet, and the rest will be history. Once youâre in a happy relationship with someone, you wonât even have to think about the word âbisexualâ anymore â youâll just be yourselves with one another and thatâll be enough.
For my chronically ill ppl having sex: remember it's okay if you need lots of time to rest and recuperate between and during sex.
I'm in a ton of pain and even tho I wanna see my love interest again asap, we both know that I need to recover. My shoulders are on fire, my hips and legs ache. And my fatigue is through the roof.
We also need to remember that during sex we may have a higher pain tolerance bc of adrenaline/excitement. So even if something feels wonderful in the moment, any hint of physical pain could be hiding a great deal of hurt that you'll feel the next morning.
Ask for breaks, drink water, catch your breath. It's okay to say you need to stop. The right people will understand and be careful of your limits.

Do You Really Know About Bisexuality? Break the Rumors
Bisexuality is a sexual orientatior that is interested in both men and women. To some people, bisexuality may sound like a superpower - double the romantic option means double the chance, right? But in reality, bisexuality can be regarded as a somewhat embarrassing identity. Bisexuals are not straight, so it's hard to think that they are the majority in terms of sexuality. On the other hand, they are often considered to be heterosexual, especially when they have heterosexual partners, which sometimes makes it difficult for them to feel their connection to the LGBT groups.
Most importantly, bisexuals are prone to serious misunderstandings. There are a lot of rumors and stereotypes surrounding bisexuality, some of which even contradict each other. Both heterosexuals and LGBT may hold these stereotypes, which makes it more difficult for bisexuals to integrate into these two groups. Fortunately, in recent years, more and more researchers have become interested in bisexuality, and research has improved our understanding of bisexuality. Here are three examples of how science can combat the misconception of bisexuality:
Myth 1: Bisexuality doesn't exist
I found this rumor particularly ridiculous: how can you tell a group of people that they don't exist? But the idea that everyone is either heterosexual or homosexual is widespread, especially among men. It's frustrating that even in the most tolerant circles of LGBT, you can sometimes hear the saying "there's no such thing as bisexual men at all".
In a recent study published in âarchives of sexual behaviorâ, researchers have completely dismissed this myth. They gathered some heterosexual, gay and bisexual men to show them a number of pornographic movies. The subjects were asked not only to assess their subjective feelings aroused by the fragments, but also to connect physiological devices to measure changes in their penile circumference (that is, sexual excitement).
As expected, when heterosexual men watched movies performed by women, their subjective feelings and sexual excitement were significantly higher than those of men who watched movies performed by men. The opposite was true for gay men. However, the extent to which bisexual men are aroused by male and female images is relatively close. They were also more aroused by bisexual videos - videos starring two males and one female-than the other two groups. Importantly, these differences are reflected in both their own reported arousal and fairly objective data on sexual excitement. Therefore, it is clear from this study that these people are not "pretending" to be bisexual.
Myth 2: Bisexuality is just a stage
This rumor portrays bisexuality as an experimental phase or a state of confusion - usually in college. Afterwards, bisexuals will still determine their "real" identity.
Lisa Diamond has done some very complicated work on this topic, during which she has been observing women's gender identity for a long time. In a paper published in âDevelopmental Psychologyâ, Dr. Diamond reported on a group of women she had followed closely for more than a decade. The results clearly show that bisexuality is not a transitional period: only a small number of women who were identified as bisexual in adolescence changed their status to heterosexual or homosexual (only 8%) at the end of the study. However, the orientation of bisexual women is always changing over time. During the ten-year research cycle, their interest in both sexes has been changing.
Myth 3: Bisexuals will not be loyal to their partners
This rumor is probably the most vicious. It comes from the idea that a partner cannot fully satisfy someone who is interested in both sexes. Some people feel that sooner or later they will crave someone who is not of the same sex as their partner. For example, people tend to believe that bisexuals are more likely to cheat on their partners than heterosexual and homosexuals. A part of people are looking for their partner on bisexual dating sites, these platforms offer people more chances to find like-minded partners.
In fact, many bisexuals have a happy one-on-one relationship with their partner. For example, by the end of Dr. Diamond's 10-year study, 89% of bisexual women were in long-term monogamous relationships. In addition, for bisexuals who wish to have multiple sexual partners, studies have shown that they tend to achieve this goal by negotiating with their partners and establishing an open relationship, rather than going around in private behind their partners. I can't find any research to support the idea that bisexuals are less loyal or honest than people with other sexual orientations.
All in all, bisexuality, a small but growing field of research, has a bright future. It not only dispels a lot of rumors and misconceptions surrounding bisexuality, but also provides interesting insights into sexual activity in general. Unlike other sources such as popular culture or media, scientific research believes that bisexuality is a relatively stable and lasting sexual orientation. We recommend people to find bisexual partners on reliable bisexual dating apps or websites. More researches are needed to better understand the similarities, and perhaps uniqueness, of bisexual and unisexual.
Can I be honest about something? One of my best friends told me she just got engaged a couple of days ago, and my heart just sank. Donât get me wrong, Iâm BEYOND happy for her. But every single person around me is either in: a relationship, engaged, married, etcâŠand Iâm just *here*. Iâm starting to think that: 1. My person doesnât exist. 2. Iâm unlovable. 3. Iâm always someoneâs last choice because I have the face of a horse and look like a sack of potatoes. 4. Now matter how much I think Iâm a catchâŠguys and girls donât seem to notice. đđ
It doesnât help Iâm also extremely jaded about love either/been called the absolute WORST by guys either.
Iâve been used to make another girl jealous, dumped right before junior prom in high school, lead on only to be told he had a girlfriend, and dumped after a few weeks. On top of that Iâve been told âyouâre not my typeâ and âyour face looks like shitâ. Whoâs to say women wonât do the same, when I prefer women. đđ
I just want to know what love feels like, and want to loved by someone who loves me for ME.
