annual art improvement
started in january 2024, when I made a fun and hasty painting as my first piece of the new year. then I redid it for my final art piece of the year in december 2024, putting a little more effort in but trying to keep it quick to be fair to the hasty original piece. I also used totally random vibrant colors in the original, and then color picked just 5 colors out of it to use for the second version.
and now in december 2025 I've remade it again! this time with a lot more effort, but I think if I had timed it over the days I worked on it, the total hours would still be less than 8. can't fact check that cuz i didn't actually track the time lol. still using the exact 5 color palette of the second version.
I think this piece will be my annual tradition now, because it is a very challenging one! drawing someone in a dynamic dance pose with both wings and arms is difficult! especially because Mori here is supposed to have a non human face shape, with a protruding beak tooth and also he's missing a chunk of his nose. I think he gets more feathers every time I paint him too lol. He's a very fluffy fella.
