Cas and I watched all of My Hero Academy over the past couple of days and I understand why everyone was so insane about it a few years ago. It does unfortunately have the regular "weird about women" shit that most shonen does but it lessens overtime and is not as egregious
i'm nursing one of those low-key colds where i'm not coughing and hacking and my nose isn't super blocked but i've got a killer sinus headache
After spending the last few years working myself to the bone for no reason and feeling completely unappreciated for what I did no matter how hard I tried I'm now working through the creative burnout that follows. I'm struggling with self discipline at the moment but am also trying to give myself a break and not beat myself up for not being productive.
I still love art and writing and making things but I can't force myself to do it if I'm not enjoying it, the enjoyment will return it will just take time, for now I'm indulging in video games and learning how to read full books again.
I want to learn to engage with new things and get out of my comfort zone more. I want to find the joy in things again.

A good chunk of reading done, This is Octavia Butler's Blood Child and other stories.
I tend to be picky with first person narratives, i can find it difficult to get invested in the story but I enjoy Butler's prose enough that it allows me to overcome my usual inability to immerse myself in a first person narrative. I've read the first three short stories, so far I think "The Evening and the Morning and the Night is my favourite"
so i didn't get anything creative done today but i DID mow the lawn which involves going outside so I count that as a win
Decided that since I'm struggling with being creative it might be worth buying some new books. I got Bloodchild and other stories by Octavia Butler and The Carrier Bag Theory by Ursula K Leguin.
If any of you have collections of short stories and novellas or essays you enjoy i would be happy to get some rec's.
