Call. Your. SENATORS. We already know that law enforcement uses big tech information to locate immigrants, undocumented or otherwise, but this is going to launch us face first into a technocratic surveillance state, more so than we already are.

The KIDS Act is just KOSA rebranded. PLEASE call your senators, especially those of tou in areas where the dems voted yes.

This is a privacy NIGHTMARE.

#Repost @mfa_ukraine with @use.repost ・・・ 🇺🇦🇺🇸 In the very heart of Washington, D.C., a major action took place in support of Ukrainian children who have been deported or forcibly transferred by Russia during its war against Ukraine.

Symbolizing the children abducted by Russia since the start of the full-scale invasion, 20,000 teddy bears 🧸 appeared on the National Mall near the U.S. Congress. Each one reflects the scale of Russia’s crime.

The opening of the installation, organized by Razom for Ukraine in partnership with the American Coalition for Ukraine, was joined by the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States. More than 120 volunteers helped set the installation up.

Ukraine has already managed to bring back over 2,100 children thanks to the @bringkidsback_ua initiative, but thousands still remain far from home. We are grateful to our American partners for bipartisan and bicameral support on this issue in Congress, as well as to everyone who continues to draw attention to the return of Ukrainian children and the inevitability of accountability for Russia.

Before the meaning becomes too diluted, let's get educated.

The most popular definition (Merriam-Webster's) is, "A populist political philosophy, movement, or regime...

-> It exalts nation and often race above the individual,

-> Is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader,

-> And is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation,

-> As well as by forcible suppression of opposition."

Other definitions:

-> "A philosophy or system with some combination of fascist values and governing structures."

-> "A tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control."

To fight the current (obviously fascist) administration, we need know how to correctly define it as a fascist regime, rather than throwing the word around without recognizing its weight.

Education trumps misinformation (which includes the culture war-era tactic of thoughtless, means-to-an-end arguing we're all so used to). Basing our arguments in fact will get us much further in the long run.

And, as always, think critically + cross-check your sources.
