Every year, billions of birds cross continents, connecting ecosystems that sustain life across regions.

As they move, they do more than migrate. They control pests, disperse seeds, and support wetlands that millions depend on.

But these journeys are changing. And understanding how they are changing depends on something simple: observation.

This year’s theme, “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter,” highlights how individual sightings help build the data needed to protect migratory birds and their habitats.
