I wasn’t impressed with my performance at the KBF Top Ten event last week, but this battery was a different story. Kayak fishing and lithium batteries go together like peas and carrots. Oddly, in the ten years I’ve been fishing kayak tournaments, I only now made the switch to lithium from sealed, lead acid batteries. The brand that caught my eye was Bioenno Power. Seeing many other positive reviews from other kayak fisherman and researching the warranty offered, I decided to give Bioenno’s 15 AH, 12 V LFP batteries a try. I chose that model to power a new, HDS Live-9 Lowrance unit. My hope was to be able to get a solid eight hours of run time (a typical tournament day) without the battery going dead. After a few solid trials in the house with powering the unit with full screen brightness and all transducer frequencies running (approximate 2.9 A current draw), the battery maintained charge for well over an average of eight hours. And after using it at Bienville and fully charging it every night, I never lost power during four consecutive 8 hour days on the water at Bienville and never turned the Lowrance off or on “standby” mode. That was certainly positive to see, as during many tournaments I liberally using the “standby” feature on the Lowrance, and should easily get a full sunrise-to-sunset day out of the battery in future tournaments. With the light-weight size and the ability of the 15 AH battery to power a large unit like the HDS Live 9, I have all the confidence I need in that battery to get through the 2019 tournament season and would recommend Bioenno’s 15 AH battery to kayak tournament anglers needing to power similar size fish finder units and smaller. #bioennopower #lowrancefishing #lithium #battery #fishfinder @bioennopower @lowrancefishing https://www.instagram.com/p/BtgzoljAwfh/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ictse4gg39ny
