I finally found some trout, they were hungry and putting on an acrobatic show smashing this fly doing cartwheelsout of the water! I would set the hook, feel the tension, but no fish. This happened 9 or 10 times before they decided they were done. I brought the fly in to hook it on the rod and noticed the hook was missing. So bummed. I remember cutting this hook off to get this fly out of my vest back in February but didn't want to litter so I put it back in the box and guess I forgot to take it out. Hit the local river Saturday with my fishing buddy and it was a great time! Took my Scott Flex 7'7" 2wt and it was so much fun catching these smaller fish. Caught rainbow, cutbow, and cutthroat trout. I also got my hand before I had a chance to pinch the barb and it got me good. Had to push it through, and it made an amazingly loud pop when it went through, pinched the barb and pushed it back through. I went up to my favorite high mountain lake for one last fish before it closed. Caught a bunch of beautiful brooke trouts and then this one. At the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge there were a ton of geese and all of a sudden this juvenile Bald Eagle soars into the area and the geese freaked out and bailed.
