I took my students on a field trip to go see a production of Julius Caesar. It was a genderbent production (love love love). It was set in the modern era. Julius Caesar was dressed as Trump, and the romans all had maga red hats. Brutus was in fact a very hot woman that had me going through the full range of lesbian thoughts and emotions, Brutus is an honorable man (afterall).

While Brutus and Casca are always my favorite characters, this definitely confirmed that. Casca was played by a guy doing his best Hugh Laurie impression (I think that is what was happening).

Cassius as always was like a batshit little rat trying to get out of a cage some would say #neurotic as hell.

Mark Antony was fruity as always, and also damnnnnn that actor was sooooooooooooooooooo good at monologuing. I have so much to learn from him. a man of rythm and precision

I cannot tell you how angry it makes me when people make Lady Macbeth out to be a victim of misogyny and sexism. Like, was the world at that time incredibly sexist? Yes of course. But that's NOT THE POINT. Her character IS NOT A GOOD CHARACTER. She's not misunderstood or secretly good or any of that. She is also not being abused by her husband. The Macbeths actually have a very loving relationship if you read the play. They love each other. Both of them fuelled the other's ambitions. Lady M saw herself as doing what she needed to do for them BOTH to have power.
