#JackedKirby - A Marvel Writer/Artist credit for Jack... 💥💥💥 Chamber of Darkness was an anthology horror comic that Marvel created to rival DC’s very popular House of Mystery/House of Secrets series... and despite the fact that it had EVERYONE at Marvel contributing to it (Wrightson, Buscema, Romita, Windsor-Smith, Goodwin, Thomas, etc) in some form it only lasted 8 issues before it became a reprint only book called Monsters on the Prowl with Issue 9. But an early issue gives us something that was quite rare at the time: a story written and pencilled by Jack Kirby!!! 💥💥💥 #Issue5 was published in June of 1970 and featured the Kirby vehicle “And Fear Shall Follow” which Jack is credited as the writer and penciller of. Now this isn’t such a big deal... but it’s one of the few times in Jack’s first stint at Marvel that he received a writers credit! 💥💥💥 Jack has long rumored to have been a very integral part of the writing process on most of the books he was drawing for Marvel (like FF and Thor) but Stan Lee is suspiciously credited as solo writer on those stories... which many believe led to Jack leaving for rival DC in 1971. Either way, Jack wrote/penciled two stories for Chamber of Darkness (issue 4/5) and received credit for both! As an added bonus, he did the cover for this issue and it was inked by Golden Age favorite Bill Everett... another comic legend inking over the King’s magnificent pencils! 💥💥💥 #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #ChamberOfDarkness #AnthologyHorror #AnthologyComic #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #BillEverett #70sComics #ComicsOfThe70s #HorrorComics #KirbyCovers #IGComic #IGComics #igcomiccommunity
