SpaceX made history today! Today, SpaceX launched the most powerful rocket ever built, Starship, on its fifth test flight.
Liftoff occurred from the SpaceX launch site in Boca Chica, Texas.
The great achievement: For the first time, SpaceX was able to safely return and land the rocket's booster, Super Heavy, which is taller than a 20-story building.
After launch, the booster returned to the launch site, where giant metal arms, called "Chopstick", caught the booster in mid-air.
The Starship spacecraft has been selected to land American astronauts on the moon as early as 2026. With Starship and Project Artemis, what's next?
NASA is in competition with China to be the first to develop a permanent station on the moon and possibly open the path to deep-space settlement.
