#big plans

Theoretically, he had big plans for this afternoon: wrap up the structure of a new melody, nail the beat for the chorus, and send a demo to the CORTIS guys by the end of the day.

In practice, most of his attention was fixated on you, sprawled out on the leather couch at the back of the room.

"Martin," you called out, spinning a drumstick between your fingers, testing its balance before attempting to toss it in the air.

He paused the loop playing on his monitor and spun his chair around to face you, resting his elbows on his knees. "Tell me, my favorite distraction."

"If I land this drumstick inside that empty coffee cup over in the corner, you have to stop working for twenty minutes and order us food."

Martin let out a low laugh, shaking his head with an amused look. "That cup is literally ten feet away from you, Y/N."

"Are you doubting my skills?"

"I'm challenging them," he corrected with a smirk, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms to watch the show. "If you miss, you come over here and pay up."

You sat up on the couch, aimed with absolute laser focus, and tossed the stick. It flew through the air, clipped the rim of the paper cup, sent it toppling over, and hit the floor with a dull thud.

You groaned, burying your face in the couch pillows as Martin burst out laughing.

He got up from his swivel chair and walked slowly toward you. He picked the drumstick off the floor, set it aside on the counter, and stopped right in front of the couch, gently grabbing your hands to pull you up by the waist until you were sitting upright.

Without asking, Martin settled right beside you in the tight space of the couch, pulling you straight into his lap.

"Time to pay up the bet," he murmured, his voice dropping an octave as his eyes drifted down to your lips.

"You should be over at the desk producing, Martin," you teased, laughing softly with your hands resting on his shoulders. "Weren't your big plans for today to finish the track?"

"My big plans changed the second you walked through that door," he answered gently. "Everyone keeps asking me about the future, where I want to go with music... but honestly? The only big plan I have for my day is getting to stay right here like this with you."

Martin brought one hand up to your face, his thumb stroking your cheek with unbelievable tenderness. His eyes met yours for a second, silently asking, before he leaned in and brushed his lips against yours in a slow, teasing touch.

You caught your breath for a brief moment, but quickly laced your fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck, closing whatever distance was left between you.

The kiss started soft, warm, and deeply affectionate, but quickly deepened as Martin pulled you tighter against his chest, letting out a satisfied sigh against your mouth. The faint taste of coffee and the feel of his uneven breathing made the entire studio outside disappear. He took his time exploring your lips, making that single moment the only thing in the world that mattered.

When you two finally pulled apart to catch your breath, Martin rested his forehead against yours, keeping his eyes closed for a few seconds with a soft, silly smile on his lips.

"Making it big is great..." he whispered against your skin, pressing two short, sweet kisses to your lips. "...but it doesn't even come close to having you right here with me."

You smiled, wrapping your arms tightly around his neck. The music on the computer could wait as long as it needed—his best plans were already happening right there on the couch.
