1969 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe L71
The experimental canted valve heads for the DZ302 Chevy small block were a bold innovation in 1968, designed with Trans Am racing in mind. Known for its high-revving capabilities, the DZ302 gained a competitive edge with these advanced heads, pushing output to around 450HP during testing—likely more in a full race setup.
The design borrowed cues from Chevy’s successful MkIV big block, proving their engineers clearly understood the benefits of optimizing airflow and combustion efficiency. The inclusion of the Cross-Ram intake on the prototype made the package even more intriguing, enhancing the small block’s already legendary performance potential.
Sadly, this design didn’t make it to production, leaving enthusiasts to wonder *what if?* It remains a fascinating piece of Chevy history, showcasing their relentless drive for performance innovation during the golden age of muscle cars.

1967 Chevy Impala SS with a 396 Turbo-Jet L78 big block engine (probably making 375HP). August 2024.
Finally posting pics here of my 'new' truck. 1968 Chevy C-10 Panel truck. Factory 396, New Process NP435 trans, Dana 60 rear axle with 3.54 Posi. From build photos I received with the truck, the rear of the truck was stitched together from about four other trucks. Plan to have her painted white over green. Also plan to get larger wheels with larger overall tires. I will be doing full air-ride as well.
